Rick Martines joins the College of Central Florida Women’s Volleyball program coaching staff for the 2018 season, bringing with him almost a decade of coaching experience from junior high through the collegiate level. Coach Martines was a multi-sport varsity letter winner in high school weightlifting, cross country, and track & field, but discovered his love of volleyball almost accidentally when he volunteered to coach in a youth recreational league in the Orlando area. Thanks to his thirst for knowledge and commitment to excellence, his teams were successful from the beginning. He quickly moved to the high school ranks, coaching a freshman team to a 35-5 record in his first two years. Coach Martines’ passion for helping young players develop lead him to numerous stints as a volunteer coach, learning from some of the most accomplished and experienced coaches in Florida. He was part of the coaching staff at Hagerty High School in Oviedo, FL when the varsity program was Regional Runner-Up back to back seasons. He started his collegiate coaching career at Webber International University as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2013 season, including serving as the head coach for the Webber JV team in their inaugural year. In 2014, he took over the University High School Volleyball program, leading them all the way to the Florida State Final Four for the first time in program history. He has spent the last 6 years of his coaching career working for the Top Select Volleyball Academy coaching elite level junior club teams.
